Football tickets to fishing permits
With a vast range of electronic-point-of-sale (EPoS) hardware and several strong partnerships with solution resellers and software experts, International POS Ltd (IPOS) has been involved in a variety of innovative EPoS projects.
Known for building custom solutions for businesses in the retail and hospitality sector, Frank Whittle, managing director at IPOS who set the company up in 1990, in Lancaster, Lancashire, shares his company’s latest success stories with us. Working with partner ECR Concepts Software, IPOS has delivered two interesting retail solutions.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water
Based at Llandegfedd Reservoir near Pontypool, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water is investing £2.5 million to build a brand new water sports and visitor centre – Llangerfedd Visitor Centre. In doing this, a new EPoS solution is essential. IPOS is supplying an EPoS system to act as a complete hospitality and retail solution, capable of managing the centres’ sail, windsurf, paddle board, canoe and kayak services as well as a cafe and angler facilities.
IPOS is supplying Dwr Cymru Welsh Water with touch screen terminals offering customer facing screens, chip and pin payment tools, retail scanning using omni-directional scanners and touch screen hospitality EPoS with kitchen printing. Specifically IPOS is developing a feature requested by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water to print fishing permits for anglers. Frank Whittle adds: “This project is not your run of the mill EPoS, so we have partnered with a company that has the in house development skills to develop a specific feature to print fishing permits”.
Gillingham Football Club Retail Megastore
Working with partner ECR Concepts Software, IPOS also delivered a retail EPoS solution for Gillingham Football Club Retail Megastore.
Gillingham Football Club branded touch screen electronic-point-of-sale terminals were specially manufactured in white colour with the branding carried through to the screen display. The terminals were installed with matching peripherals – magnetic card readers, omni-laser scanners, cash drawers and customer facing colour screens that could show promotional material while the EPoS was not in use. The system also integrates with a contactless chip & pin system, which ensures fast processing of sales transactions on match day. In addition, the solution includes a mobile system using a wireless terminal for stock taking, deliveries and price checking to complete the front of house system. The touch screen software powers the solution at the front-of-house sending sales information for reporting and stock control in real time. Meanwhile, the back office system also includes price maintenance, product updates for store and online, stock control and a complete management reporting solution.
The Club also required game tickets to be bought online and collected at the till which was achieved using a linked e-commerce and ticketing solution. The CRM tool collects customer information at the time of online purchase and later recognises the customer in store when they come in to collect their tickets; it can also track and report on purchases. Mean while the back office e-commerce interface allows products, price, descriptions and images to populate the website with general merchandise.
